All About That Base. . .

FINALLY!!! I am getting around to posting my basic makeup products that are on repeat each and every day. This is something I get a lot of questions about… but have taken my precious time sharing along. Most of these products are what I would consider holy grail products and are things I have been using quite some time. There are only a few recent finds and those are sure to also be sticking around.

First things first: Skin Care! I switched this up early in the summer to trick my skin into staying on the matte side. I struggle in summer months with beating shine throughout the day and these products have truly been a life Saver.

1. Biore Charcoal Cleanser: I love this stuff so so much! It gives such a fresh feeling to the skin and I never have residue left on my skin after… just healthy, happy skin!

2. Clarisonic Mia 2: This little gem has turned my skin game around 100%! I bought it in the spring to add extra exfoliation into my routine leading up to the wedding. Little did I know it would become something I could never live without! Game changer ladies!

3. Olay Fresh Effects Gel Moisturizer: This is the most perfect summer moisturizer. I don’t care if you are dry, combo, or oily… it will change your life! It gives a clean, tingly effect to the skin right after application that really wakes it up! You feel refreshed and awake immediately! I have never had so much luck with drugstore skin care as I have with Olay products.

4: Urban Decay All Nighter: I know for most this would go in the foundation portion… but I use it several times during makeup application… starting with right after my moisturizer sets in. I swear this makes my face stay on 10x longer! It also stops the creasing situation I get sometimes around my nose and chin. (Amen!)

Step 2, Foundation!

Dior Airflash: This was my wedding foundation. I can’t speak enough to the lasting power and coverage! I love this for date nights and when we take blog photos! the coverage is a little heavy for everyday… which is why I picked up the next item on the list.

Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet: Finally! A foundation that has the best of both worlds, coverage and a light formula. I cannot stand to feel cakey throughout the day! I absolutely hate feeling like a have a mask on or that terrible film that somehow always finds its way onto my cell phone screen… ICK! This foundation really is such a perfect match! I get all day lasting full coverage… without the weight of most matte formulas! I am in love with this!

Next comes my setting powder and bronzer. I bought all of my Chanel products individually… $40+ per item really adds up! The powder I have had for over a year now and the bronzer was also a wedding prep purchase.

Chanel Poudre Universelle: This is a loose setting powder. When I first bought it I kept thinking I was turning into a grandmother because it comes with one of those terrible poofs for application… mind you I don’t use the poof and it also doesn’t smell like No. 5 so I think I’m in the clear for now. This really does the trick as far as setting powder though. It is a translucent formula and doesn’t go on too heavy.

Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel: (AKA Universal Tan) I cannot even handle the perfection that is this bronzer! OMG! I bought this for the wedding and can’t imagine using anything else! It really works to bronze anything! For contouring I use a Sigma blending brush, but I’ve also used a large powder brush and buffed this onto places I’m looking a little casper-esque.

Brushes I use:

Sigma F 86 ( I use this for foundation and contouring… I’m bad I know!)

Coastal Scents Large Natural Powder Brush ( I use this for both powder and final blending of bronzer)

Now onto the Cheeks!

Marc Jacobs Shameless Bold in Cool Rosy Pink: This formula is great! It doesn’t change shades throughout the day and I love the shape of the pan. It really helps the brush to only pick up as much product as you really need. This was the shade I wore on my wedding day.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Dim Infusion: I bought this back in the spring when the ambient lighting powder was all the rage. I haven’t tired of this yet and it is the shade I reach for most. I bought another shade, but find this one to be the most flattering for my skin tone.

Laura Geller Highlighting Powder Duo: I Love this so much because it gives a true, natural glow and really works with my pink undertones! I often find highlighters to be more on the yellow side and the shades I find always prove to be super unflattering… until I found this gem!

Real Techniques Blush Brush: I am obsessed with this line! Such a great price and I can’t say that my more expensive brushes work any better than these do! LOVE!

Real Techniques Stipling Brush: This brush is perfect for blending out the rough edges when applying blush. If you go just a little too far down on the cheeks you can really undo the damage with this puppy!

MAC 187: This works hand in hand with the Real Techniques version. The bristles on this one are a little longer and tend to work a little gentler with product… if I have a powder that is starting to break loose I always use this brush to try to make my product last a little longer.

Rimmel Quad in English Breakfast: I found this when I was picking up some drug store lipstick recently and immediately thought of a Chanel quad I keep reaching for each time I’m at the counter… but always say no because of the price tag. This one came in at $5 which definitely met my budget. The formula is great because the shimmer is really subtle. I’m not a huge fan of super shimmery shades and these have just enough.

Laura Mercier Baked Eye Color in Ballet Pink: This is the shade I wore as my primary eye shadow for the wedding. I bought it because I have been a long time fan of Stila’s kitten shadow, but hate the way it breaks so quickly! This is such a great dupe and I think the formula is much much better!

Eye Pencils:

Benefit High Brow: I haven’t stopped using this in over a year! I love the lift it gives my brows and it really makes my eyes look rested even on the mornings when I haven’t had nearly enough coffee.

NYX Wonder Pencil: This pencil is said to serve three functions: conceal, brighten, and line. I personally do not use this as a concealer, but I can attest to the brighten and line functions as I use this to line my eyes and open them up and also to line my lips when doing a nude lip. It really makes the nude color pop!

Loreal Extra Intense Liquid Eye Pencil: This is my vice! I suck at eyeliner! MAJOR!!! Liquid eyeliner freaks me out, gel liner always smudges on me… and pencils just never seem to work. This does the trick of a liquid liner in pencil form! Think eyeliner for dummies! Thank GOD!

For Eye Brushes:

Brows:I just use an old tart brush from a brow product because it works so perfectly with my brow pomade from Anastasia.

Shadow: I use a mixture… one is from my Real Techniques set and the other two are Coastal Scents.

YSL Babydoll Faux Effect: I got this gem as a freebie from Sephora and am just now starting to break it in! I really love it when I’m going for more of a dramatic eye look.

Rimmel Extra Wow: I have to admit that I am pretty new to Rimmel products. I have yet to be disappointed though! I love this for an everyday, effortless no-makeup look. This formula really helps to eliminate clumps also!

Lip Products: ( my recent obsession!)

I have been dabbling quite a bit in the lipstick department! I am obsessed with dark shades and have been on the hunt for the perfect shade! Additionally, I have found the best drug store red shade along with the perfect nude for all you pale girls out there like me!

Buxom Full Bodied Lip Gloss in Yes you : This is too perfect for words! Not too pink and not too brown… it also isn’t tacky which I always appreciate in a gloss!

Buxom Full on Lip Stick in Marrakech: This really is the perfect base for a nude lip. It has the plumping effect that Buxom lip products are so famous for, but isn’t too overwhelming. I love this combo together! I feel pulled together immediately after applying.

Wet N Wild… my new Drugstore addiction! OMG! The price cannot be beat ($1.89????) The formula is also so incredibly close to the MAC Mineralize Lip Stick that I can’t believe it!

Wet n Wild Maga Last Lip Stick in Ferguson Crest Cabernet & Stop Light Red

While I am trying my hand at drug store dupes… I can’t quite peel myself away from the makeup counter just yet… I missed these shades last fall and just had to have them for this season.

Fresh Moroccan is totally out of my comfort zone! I usually LOATHE all things Frost in the makeup department! (Ya feel me?) This one is different though! The subtle gold shimmer really only adds definition, nothing more! It is just so pretty!

Diva is matte and more on the purple side, but not so extreme as Up the Amp… I think it’s the perfect compromise.

Thank you so much for reading! Please feel free to share your current faves in the comments below! I love finding new products! I will have a full lip stick post coming your way next week with full swatches of my favorite fall shades!

PS- have you been following #NYFW live? I can barely handle all the gorgeousness! I am also incredibly jealous of all my friends who were able to attend. I’m living vicariously through your insta feeds ladies!

Have a wonderful weekend! #TGIF!
