With 7.7 billion people in the world, every little act of kindness makes an impact. How often do we pass up an opportunity to simply bless someone with a smile, a thank you, opening a door, waiting a little extra to let them cross the road? So many simple ways that we can brighten someone’s day with just a couple moments of effort, free of cost to us, and more valuable than we could ever imagine.
Have you ever had a bad day and all of a sudden… you stumble into someone opening the door, complimenting your outfit, telling you thank you in the most sincere tone? Didn’t it lift your spirits?
I’ve talked about it before, but I was severely bullied throughout school. It left me feeling broken and worthless. I think going through that opened my eyes to the little things we do to one another that are really scarring. Often we have no idea. I bet if I ran into one of those bullies they would have no recollection of the harm they caused me, but to me I still have flashbacks.
We have to do better. What we put out there may be small, but it has a domino effect. If enough people are mean and hurtful… it will trickle down. Imagine, though, if that turned into intentional acts of kindness. That trickle down would be smiles, thank yous, doors opened, waves at neighbors, grace for your shortcomings. Maybe we could even make cancel culture extinct? I’m just saying…
I’m so excited to be partnering with Inspire Kindness today to share more about them, but also to give you some ideas for how you can spread a little more kindness in this world.
Inspire Kindness is a lifestyle brand, but more than that it’s a movement! Through this link you can get more info on how to join the movement, track your progress, share your efforts, and get more ideas on how you can inspire kindness around you.
They also have a foundation called Kindness for Kids, which provides social-emotional education programs that instill kindness in our youth. Even cooler, 10% of net profits from the brand’s online shop goes to the organization with the mission of creating a better world for generations to come. I truly believe that it starts young and that if we can get our children involved with movements like Inspire Kindness we can help to stop the bullying epidemic we are experiencing today.
3 Simple + Easy Ways You Can Inspire Kindness Today:
- Share your gifts: I decided to bring in my assistant for this one. If you follow along on Instagram you see Lemon a lot. While she may “just” be a dog, she is the kindest soul we know. She also happens to give the best hugs. She would hug every one of you if she could. That’s her gift. On any given day she can cure tears, disappointment, and anger with one of those sweet hugs. What gifts could you share with those around you to brighten their day?
- Take a friend coffee: Doing something simple like this can really turn a day around for someone. Maybe even get the coffee for the person in line behind you in the Starbucks drive through next time. Even though this does cost money… I promise you it will come back to you! I’ve seen it happen myself!
- Send a Thank You Note: This doesn’t even have to be a thank you. It can be a thinking of you… Just let them know you’re happy to have them in your life. A hand written note means so much more than a text or phone call. Such a kind and genuine gesture.
What ideas do you have for this movement? I’d love to hear your thoughts! You can comment below, email me, or dm me on Instagram! Let’s get to work!
