Our First Little Boho Thanksgiving in the Douthat House
Happy Friday Eve Guys! So excited to share the details of today’s post with you! This year we are hosting Thanksgiving for the first time since we have been married + the first time in our new house! I’m so excited!
We have a small little family and we have struggled making our own traditions since we have gotten married because it has always just been Luke, me, and his parents. Not having kids can make the holidays a little quiet. We are hoping and praying that next year a little baby Douthat will join us! For now though, we are making our own traditions.
I love our dining area so much and we have yet to use it. So it was a great excuse to fully decorate the table! I love how it all came together. Ideas in your head don’t always work that way, hah! So here’s my version of what a boho Thanksgiving looks like.
*the china in this cabinet was a wedding gift from my grandparents! I will treasure it forever!
Tablescape Tips:
- Try to use what you already have: the greenery (old), disco balls are ornaments from our tree, plates we already had, and the napkins were here already too!
- Greenery is much cheaper than true florals: I buy this from Trader Joe’s every few months! Three packs make several little arrangements and come in under $10!
- Stick to a defined color story: Notice that only four colors came into play here (orange, gold, aqua, and blush). This keeps it from getting too busy!
- Try something new!: Don’t be afraid to play with textures! It can mix things up a bit and add some interest to the table and the whole room really!
