Today we are going to chat about one of the hottest items of 2019. We’ve seen them EVERYWHERE. Those star sneakers that we just can’t get enough of that look like they’ve been worn for years. . . but we obsess over them. I thought that these things were the biggest joke and said I’d never pay full price for them… so I bought some dupes… and then the curiosity kicked in.
This is my 100% unbiased… and also NOT SPONSORED review on the Golden Goose Deluxe Brand or GGDB sneakers.
Golden Goose Leather Superstar Low
With these being the only real deal I have to compare the dupes to, I wanted to start here first. I went with the classic black and white option… I wanted something basic to start with and see if they were something I was willing to invest in. (They also happen to be the cheapest option!)
I have to say that after ordering these from Shein, wearing them on vacation, and then seeing them side by side… I’m so blown away! It seems crazy to fall in love with sneakers that look old and worn, but somehow they really do elevate a look and the real deal ones are way more comfortable than the dupes from shein.
Things to consider:
- The GGDB have a wider footbed.
- The GGDB have a more luxe feel and are much more comfortable.
- The Back of the shoe has way more structure than the Shein dupes.
- The laces on both are almost the exact same color.
- The sole of the shoe is so similar except for the color.
- The GGBD shoes are $495, the Shein Dupes are $25!
Golden Goose Calfhair + Suede Dupes
These are a dupe for the Superstar distressed leopard-print calf hair, leather and suede sneakers. (retail $565!) These came in at just under $30 at Shein! What I can say about these is these are closer to the HI (thicker sole version) of the golden goose. They do have a chunkier look and don’t elongate the leg like the others do.
I’ve worn these with dresses, jeans, and more. I always have gotten compliments, but to be honest after wearing the GGDB I don’t find myself grabbing for these as much.
You can certainly tell that this is faux calfhair. I don’t think they by any means come off looking cheap, but they don’t give the effect of the real thing.
Like the other two pairs I’ve already described, SIZE UP! I think these would be much more flattering if I’d gone up to the 40. If I’ve learned anything about these with both dupes and GGDB, they run SMALL!
Things to note:
- These dupes run very narrow and SMALL! Size up.
- The calfhair has more of a fuzzy texture than most faux calfhair.
- The GGDB are $565, the Shein Dupes are $25.
- The sole of the Shein dupes is MUCH thicker than the GGDB.
Silver Glitter Superstar Sneakers
These are the dupes for the silver glitter GGDB. I love these so much, and wish I’d sized up because I think I would wear them a lot more. The real deal GGDB via SSense are $530 and these dupes from shein are $25.
I wanted to try multiple options ( I want true glitter ones for Christmas… plz santa!) I’m going to do a poll on insta to help me decide which ones I want. These were a really great option so I’m glad I ordered these to show you.
The glitter on these is actually pretty good quality and they don’t look “cheap”. I think what gives away that they are dupes is the sole, base of the shoe, the shoe strings, and the sheen on the glitter. The GGDB glitter is a little more “rough” looking and doesn’t have the same level of sparkle.
Things to note with these:
- The sole is much thicker than the GGDB version.
- These run narrow compared to GGDB, size UP!
- The toe on these is much more rounded than the GGBD.
- These are under $30 and the GGDB are $530.
Final thoughts:
I do think the Golden Goose are worth it if you love them!!!! If they are your style… the investment is worth it. If you just like it for the trend… buy the dupes. IF you love them enough to know you will wear them whether or not they are “in style” BUY THEM if they are in budget. IF you just want to try the trend don’t go straight and add them to your cart and buy them. Test it out and then if you think you want the upgrade DO IT!
