Finding Joy in the Mundane | Learn to Love Laundry Day

Do you ever get caught up in the little daunting tasks that seem to eat up all the free time you do your best to set aside? Dishes piling up in the sink, floors that you have to sweep multiple times a day because the dogs are apparently donating to locks of love this year, and the scariest of them all; laundry. Laundry day has forever been the bane of my existence. Luke never wears the same work clothes twice because he gets them so wrinkled, we have to change our sheets multiple times a week because well.. two dogs, and I refuse to use a towel twice. We accumulate an insane amount of laundry for two humans and two fur babies.

I promised myself that 2019 would be the year that I worked to decrease the overwhelm in my life. 2018 especially brought on a lot of anxious feelings for me. Taking this space full time last year was terrifying… and I’m not one who thrives in the realm of “unknown”.

My biggest struggle being laundry made me start searching for ways to make it enjoyable. Little things like wine, treats, some good music, and a scent that makes the whole house smell like heaven have really made a world of difference.

5 Simple Tips to Start Enjoying Laundry Day

  1. Crank up the tunes.

I love blasting music when I’m working at home. Something upbeat and high energy tends to work best for me… and when it’s been a rough week sister loves a good rap mix on Apple Music. It helps you push through and keep your energy high so you can tackle that huge pile of laundry that needs to be folded.

  2. Bring out the Booze.

A beverage to help you relax and have fun can make a world of difference in tackling a to-do list of things you would rather put off. For me a glass of Rose, Cab Sav, or an Aperol Spritz is perfection. Even if it’s coffee… have fun and treat yourself for getting that laundry done girl!

  3. Bring Snacks.

Snacks are essential on any mission like this. Cupcakes, Popcorn, Cookies… girl do your thang. Whatever is going to be incentive for you to keep on working… do it girl!

  4. Invite a friend.

Remember the college days? I loved doing laundry with room-mates. Call a girlfriend and invite her over for a folding party. Tackling those household chores with friends is always a good idea.

  5. Invest in a Luxury Laundry Detergent.

I can’t recommend Sweet Grace from Bridgewater Candle Company enough. You Guys, it is heavenly. I’ve used higher end detergents before and nothing filled up the house like this stuff. It’s the perfect mix of decadence and sweetness and isn’t too feminine to wash your husband’s clothes with. Another win? They donate 3 meals to fight child hunger with every sale from the Sweet Grace collection, jar candles, holiday candles, and Afternoon Retreat collection. How amazing is that?
