Our Trip to The Henderson:
If you’ve been following along throughout 2018, you’ve seen a major shift with TGG with a focus on travel. This has been both exciting and exhausting, but most of all so much fun! So today, I’m sharing the details of one of my favorite travel partnerships to date, The Henderson a Salamander Beach & Spa Resorta in Destin, Florida. This place is so dreamy. To be honest, it was my first true “resort” experience. Needless to say, I think I’ve been spoiled and can only go this route now. Having everything in one place is amazing ya’ll!
This was a true girls weekend… a roadtrip down, a weekend of good food, drinks, and activities…
The best part though is the scenery! The Henderson is right on a state park. So our view was amazing. It will never change either because the grounds are protected. That is seriously such an amazing thing. No high rise blocking that beach view peeps!
I was so excited to take this trip with my friends Molly, Mae, and Beth! Molly and I have been for quite some time now and met through The Blog Societies! Crazy enough, the same goes for Mae and Beth! I hadn’t met Beth before this trip, but let me tell you… she’s a doll! Stay tuned for her Cookbook coming this August! Girl is on FIRE Ya’ll! Mae just had the sweetest Angel baby, Milo earlier this year… so you’ll want to follow her too! So sweet!
Those trees… that’s the state park. You can even set up your beach chairs in that area! Talk about the perfect beach day!
These photos were taken in the arrival area. It’s seriously stunning. I swear we could have stayed here a whole week and not covered all the good photo spots! Destin, can I move please?
Side note: here is the info for the dress ya’ll loved so much!
The Henderson covers every little detail. So many cohesive elements run throughout the property. From the tile selection, to the brick choice, to the wall color… you will see a cohesive trend! Stunning! It has the perfect balance of Southern Charm meets Coastal Oasis!
The Dining Experience at The Henderson:
Speaking of everything in one place, the food at The Henderson is AMAZING! Horizons is the perfect little tapas bar! You can get an amazing selection of bites and drinks here! We loved the Sesame Cauliflower so much! I can’t say enough about the Sushi Chef on location either! SO GOOD! He did a couple of custom platters for us during our stay and WOW! So good!
For Beverages, I went with the Elderflower Citrus Lemonade! So yummy and refreshing! I tried Mae’s Margarita too and YUM! It has a touch of Rosemary and it was seriously so good!
*Not a bad dinner view, huh?
Primrose is the main restaurant location on site at The Henderson! Let me tell you… SO GOOD!
We had both dinner and brunch here during our stay. The service was so amazing… and we were literally obsessed with our Waitress! She had moved to America from the Ukraine because her husband won the lottery. She had tears in her eyes when she was telling us how grateful she is to be here. Whew. She is a rockstar. Every single detail was so spot on. Everyone was so kind, the food was amazing, and what a view, huh?
We sampled basically everything. The fresh fruit bowl, breakfast tacos, chicken and waffles, salmon and capers, pancakes, and of course coffee and mimosas! We were so stuffed, but so happy!
Guest Services took such amazing care of us! These Macaroons and a bottle of wine came to the room on Saturday night. Molly and I cracked into those immediately, don’t you worry!
Saturday night we dined at Primrose again. It was absolutely amazing. I’m going to recap our meals of course, but I think the best part was that we stayed for 4 hours just sitting and chatting. There was a wedding going on and the music was amazing. We sat on the patio and just took it all in. I needed that night so much!
We had just about everything I think! For starters the Deviled Eggs stole the show! They are made with Pimento Cheese and are truly a take on the Deviled egg I’ved never had before! So good! We also tried the vegetable fritters!
Like I said, the Sushi chef at The Henderson is amazing. We had a custom sampler once again and stuffed our faces with this. It was delicious! I only eat seafood when I’m at the beach and I know it’s fresh… otherwise I’m 100% vegetarian and do my best to follow closely to a plant based diet… so this was a treat for sure!
For entrees we all split the Shrimp and Grits (delish!), the Grouper, and the Snapper! I devoured the Shrimp and Grits and looooved the Grouper! Both are two of my favorite things!
To finish things off: we enjoyed a sampler of the desert menu! It was so dark by then we don’t have photos to share, but know that the Lava Cake is EVERYTHING! Must have if you’re ever at The Henderson!
Activities on Site at The Henderson:
This is the main reason I think resorts are the way to go. The ease of having everything on site is such a luxury! We started the weekend off with Yoga on the Beach! What? This was such a cool experience! A sunrise yoga sesh was the perfect way to kick off the day and our instructor was amazing. Molly is kind of a yoga guru, so we were all trailing behind her… it was entertaining! I used to really love Hot Yoga and fell out of it! I’m thinking I need to change that stat!
Beach access to this area is private, so it really does feel so nice compared to crowded public beaches! Only Henderson guests were on the beach so it was incredibly calm and quiet to say the least. So nice!
You can have your own beach set up with umbrellas and chairs! They also offer food and beverage service which is so amazing, especially for honeymooners and families! You can call guest services to reserve this or just head down to the private beach access.
The walk to the beach is short and sweet with gorgeous views along the way like the Inn at The Henderson! Such a cute little place to stay!
The Salamander Spa at The Henderson was second to none. I’ve had the luxury of getting several massages this year with all the traveling I’ve been doing and this was hands down the best. The massage therapist was so good and listened to me. She wasn’t scared to give me the pressure I asked for and I ended up basically having a deep tissue massage (which IÂ desperately needed!) The spa has so many other ammenities too like the lounge which has the most gorgeous view, a steam shower, and hot tub. It is seriously an oasis all on its own!
They offer so many treatments ranging from massage to facials and even nails and hair! They do it all! The wedding going on all weekend had me thinking what a dream it would be to have everything all in one place to get ready!
When you aren’t at the spa or out at the beach, reserve yourself a cabana at the adult pool or just head down to the family pool and get in the lazy river! There is a dining area at the family pool and food and beverage service for the adult pool. It seriously was such a dream! The place to sit and chat with girlfriends, read a book, or even catch up on some work if you hustle that solopreneur life like we do!
We had the absolute best time while at The Henderson and can’t wait to get back again soon! Destin stole this girl’s heart and I’m sure it will yours too!
